Where is Freddie Mercury when you need him?
Walker's basketball team, coached by Kevin, won the county tournament on Tuesday! They played so good all year long! Congratulations to the whole team!

There is HOPE!
You know that sick feeling you get when you get a call from "the school". Is my child sick? Has he injured himself? Did he sock someone in the nose? Did he pull the teacher's skirt down? You know, a million things go through my mind when I see the number pop up on my caller ID. And then I hear..."Ginger, this is Emily. I need to talk to you." Parents, I can tell you this. Those 6 words never have anything positive to follow them. I promise you!
It seems that my oldest child, who I love very much, has a hard time doing what his teacher tells him to do. She asked to put him in after school detention, but I told her no, that he needed a paddling. Tough love is hard!!!! Anywho, he was making gun and shooting noises. Before you say anything, yes I realize he's just "being a boy". But apparently you can't make those noises in school nowadays. However, that's not the reason he was in trouble. He was told a gazillion times to stop (over the last few months), yet he just kept shooting away. Is it that hard to stop? Why is he so hard-headed? Oh wait, I forgot he was born with the same blood that runs through his daddy's veins....the same man, who along with his brother, would throw frogs hard on the road to watch them go "SPLAT"! I thought all hope was gone until I went to Sunday School yesterday. It was there I discovered BOTH of my teachers used to get paddlings somewhat often, and now these are 2 of the most respected men in my church. So maybe there is hope after all that this is just a phase and he will eventually grow out of it. A mother can hope.....

Are you proud?
“Man, I was over 100 several years ago,” he tells the men’s magazine for its March issue out Friday. “There were years when I had a better summer than A-Rod, buddy. You know? I got on the boards quite often.”
That was Kenny Chesney's comment he made when asked by Playboy magazine if he was gay. I have lost a lot of respect for him since he made that comment. Kenny, are you proud of yourself? Do you really think anyone cares? And girls, those of you who slept with him, do you honestly care so little about yourself that you don't mind being a notch in his quite large belt? We have all made mistakes and done things we wished we hadn't, but we sure don't go around bragging about it. Or at least I don't. And what's even worse, I'm sure he's thought of as a MAN! But if it were a woman that slept with over 100 men, she's a whore. Double standards aggravate the stew out of me too! Just live your life Kenny, make your music and keep your conquests to yourself!

He gets it honest!
My Walker....he's your typical boy in that he loves to play outside, play sports, rough-house, play in the mud, you get my drift.... But there's also another thing he does TOO much of, and that is talk. Ever since his first day of Kindergarten last year, he's had to pull sticks for talking. Talking too loud, talking when he's not supposed to.... Well, I come home last night and look at his planner. And lo and behold, he has 2 sheets of paper stapled to his planner where he had to write sentences for talking when he's told not to. I have to sign it and return it today. Well, the blood starts boiling and I notice the room starting to get foggy looking from all the smoke coming out of my ears from being so mad. He gets his punishment handed down from me and his daddy (no I will not tell you what it is because I frankly don't care to hear how someone thinks I'm being too harsh or too lenient). SO, just know that we have done EVERYTHING in the book. The more I think about him getting in trouble, the madder I get. And then "poof"! It hits me like a brick! The boy can't help it that he's a talker. I'm a talker. His daddy is a talker. He gets it honest. I love having a child who is outgoing, but at the same time, can you just keep your trap door shut when your told to?

Goldilocks is clueless!
We all know the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. She went through the porridge and the chairs and then the bed. She thought Baby Bear's bed was "just right". Well, no Goldilocks, you're wrong. Completely wrong! Or at least so according to my children!
It seems that Momma Bear and Daddy Bear's bed is just right. You see, we put the kids to bed in their own beds. Well, Walker and Brody sleep together because Brody is scared of the dark, or just to be alone period. And then Avery sleeps in her bed! Sounds good, right? Well, it is until about 2:00 or so every morning when I am in a deep, hibernated sleep. Then I hear "momma". I ignore it, thinking it will go away. "momma". it's like a nagging, yet familiar sound. "momma". There it is again....what is that noise? "MOMMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Oh, now it's all too clear what it is when I pry my eyes open and see 1 of 3 children standing there.
More often times than not it's Avery in there first. She not only walks in there from her room, but she is loaded down with pillow, blanket and baby in hand. So I semi-consciously manage to move my arm to heave her up on the bed and she crawls in between Kevin and I. Or should I say more accurately, she attaches herself to my butt or hip and stays there.
Next, I hear "momma, can I fweep wif you?" I don't even open my eyes because I know it's Brody. Only my sweet Brody talks that way and asks before he hops in bed. Even though he asks first, he knows he's obligated at that point because there is one sibling in the bed with me, and how could I possibly let one and not the others. So he puts himself down at the end of the bed and covers up with the comforter. So now, I am laid on my side with one stuck up my tail and the other at my feet, which now forces my legs up to my chin.
Enter child #3.....and before you start, mothers, trying to tell me how I need to break that habit, don't even bother. I won't listen to it. I've tried it, failed at it miserably, and now I'm used to it. When those babies are 16, they aren't gonna want to sleep with mom anymore. So I'm going to enjoy it no matter how little bit of sleep I get.
Sorry, back to #3. My oldest....Walker. He usually sleeps through the night in his bed. But if he does wake and find that Brody isn't in bed with him anymore, he will come in my room and survey the lay of the land (bed) and decide where he can fit best, if even at all. I've actually watched him before look around the bed to see where he should plop down. And at times, he will look to see who's in there and then walk back to his bed defeated. And then, I can't stand that. It breaks my heart to know he's back in his room by himself, so I'll crawl in bed with him. After all, I've been shoved out of my bed by now.
So Goldilocks, I respect your opinion that Baby Bear's bed is just right. But for now, I'm enjoying the fact that Momma Bear's bed is best!

"Back in the day"
I recently joined Facebook as a way to stay in touch with people that I literally have not laid eyes on in years. I was really against Facebook because I thought it was a waste of time, but now I am completely addicted to it. I love re-connecting and seeing pics of people now and from "back in the day". Most of us girls had hair up to there that wouldn't move, and could easily catch on fire from the amount of hair spray we had in it. The boys had either mullets or rat tails. We wore tye-died shirts and tight-rolled our blue jeans. We HAD to have a pair of Sebago shoes and jelly shoes. And we hung out at the square. Our biggest concerns were whether the cutest boy in school liked us, or if so and so said something behind our back. Life was so simple. Now we have to worry about losing our job in this terrible economy, terrorists attacking our soil, or our children being exposed to things at too early of an age. But we asked for it. We couldn't wait to turn 16, to get that license. We couldn't wait to turn 18, cause that was THE age. We couldn't wait to turn 21, to be legal. We couldn't wait to get married and have a house full of kids. We couldn't wait to get out of our parent's house cause they were driving us crazy. Now we have to worry about how we are going to afford to pay the $500 utility bill that we couldn't wait to get because that meant we were older! Ugh.... I wouldn't take back a thing now because I have a beautiful family, but I do wonder why I was in such a hurry to grow up!
